Prof. Aurel Perren

After Pathology training in Zürich, Liestal and Basel I worked as Professor of Pathology in the Technical University Munich, where I was responsible for the Biobank. Since 2009 I am full Professor and Director of the Institute of Tissue Medicine and Pathology at the University of Bern. I am convinced that Biobanking is the basis for precision medicine. In parallel to diagnostic work-up of tissue biopsies the Institute of Tissue Medicine and Pathology therefore runs the Tissue-Biobank Bern (TBB) for our medical campus. In our Translational Research Unit we are equipped with all the modern technologies needed for tissue analysis, the building up of cohorts and tissue-micro-arrays (www.ngtma.com), and digital pathology.
